This role offers remote or hybrid flexibility (anchored out of Dallas-Fort Worth or remote within the continental United States) with periodic travel for substation walkdowns and utility design reviews.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Compensation: $145,000 to $184,300 annualized base salary plus 15% to 20% annual performance bonus and PE licensure premium
- Work Arrangement: Remote or hybrid design role with flexible schedule and zero mandatory field outage rotation
- Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid NCEES multi-state PE reciprocity fees, and IEEE PES / conference sponsorship
Core Engineering Responsibilities
- Protective Relay Settings & Logic: Develop relay settings files, protection logic equations, and trip matrices for SEL (SEL-311L, SEL-351, SEL-411L, SEL-421, SEL-487E, SEL-700G), GE Multilin (UR Series D60, L90, T60, B30), and Siemens SIPROTEC relays.
- Short-Circuit & Coordination Studies: Execute symmetrical component fault calculations, step-distance and line-differential coordination, and arc-flash studies in ASPEN OneLiner, CAPE, or ETAP.
- Substation P&C Design Packages: Review and stamp (PE) one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC elementary schematics, panel wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and IEC 61850 / DNP3 SCADA communication architectures.
