Posted 2026-11-02

About the Opportunity

Engaged Headhunters has been retained by a Confidential Regional Heart & Vascular Surgical Institute in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas metroplex to recruit a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP).

Built for an experienced perfusionist who values a well-staffed pump team and predictable post-call recovery, this program performs high-acuity adult CABG, complex aortic arch reconstruction, minimally invasive valve repair/replacement, and mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella, and adult ECMO initiation) with dedicated ECMO specialist bedside coverage so perfusionists are not tied to 24/7 ICU sitting shifts.

Compensation & Call Structure

  • Base Compensation: $185,000 to $235,000 annualized base salary (commensurate with ABCP tenure and complex aortic/ECMO case log)
  • Sign-On & Relocation: $25,000 sign-on and relocation package paid across year-one milestones, plus call-back and case-overtime stipends
  • Call Rotation: Sustainable 1-in-4 to 1-in-5 shared call rotation with protected post-call relief and dedicated bedside ECMO specialists handling routine ICU shift monitoring
  • Benefits: Zero Texas state income tax, full medical/dental/vision coverage, 401(k) match, 5 weeks PTO, paid ABCP recertification/Texas LP licensure fees, and $3,500 annual AmSECT / CME allowance

Core Clinical Responsibilities

  1. Cardiopulmonary Bypass Management: Set up, prime, and operate heart-lung machines (LivaNova / Sorin S5 or Spectrum Medical Quantum), oxygenators, arterial filters, and cardioplegia delivery systems for elective and emergent adult cardiac procedures.
  2. ** physiological & Anticoagulation Monitoring:** Manage intraoperative blood gas parameters, systemic anticoagulation (ACT / HMS Plus), ultrafiltration, cerebral oximetry, and autologous blood conservation / cell-saver perfusion.
  3. Mechanical Circulatory Support & ECMO: Partner with cardiothoracic surgeons and cardiac anesthesiologists on VA/VV ECMO cannulation, transport, and ventricular assist device (VAD / Impella) support.
  4. Quality Assurance & Perfusion Registry: Maintain accurate electronic perfusion records, STS database metrics, and equipment preventive maintenance logs.

Required Qualifications

  • Certification: Active Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) credential from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) (or board-eligible graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited cardiovascular perfusion program).
  • Licensure: Active (or eligible for expedited) Texas Licensed Perfusionist (LP) license.
  • Clinical Skills: Strong clinical command of adult cardiopulmonary bypass, myocardial protection strategies, deep hypothermic circulatory arrest (DHCA), and point-of-care hemostasis management.
